The Dinner Club seed began germinating in October 1990. The first organized formal get-together was January, 1991. Since that time there have been on average 10 events per year. Keeping the menu, entertainment and theme ideas fresh has been part of the fun. Thinking a brainstorming approach for the dream Dinner Club event would be entertaining, I am posting the challenge here.
For a group of 4 couples, WHERE would the Dream Location be? WHAT would the Dream Menu consist of? WHAT activities would be memorable? What couple would comprise the Dream 5th Couple?
This is open to any members, past or present. Steve, Jane, John, Missy, Rob, Geneann, Charles, Alice, Carla, Roger, Lisa, Tony, Liz, Bob, Bobbi, Tom, Ruth, Pat, Lavonne, Brian, Carrie, Barry and Susan.
Dream Location: Bar Harbor, Maine
Dream Menu: Dougie’s Smoky Barbeque, followed by Poor Boys, then a Chocolate Wasabi Icecream.

Dream location: On an island in the Caribbean overlooking turquoise waters, a cool breeze drifting through the palm fronds
Dream menu: Fresh grilled seafood and tantalizing appetizers, served by froggy native boys in tight leather aprons
Memorable activity: Massages on the beach, little drinks with umbrellas in them, island music, and lots of laughter

Dream DC…one does ponder…
I’m glad that Bar Harbor is in the top, now you know why Jane and I moved here!
After extensive pondering…I have two. If I were to take the easy way our like GeneAnn and have someone else make the food, hands down it would be dinner at Auberge de Combes and staying at the Gite in Faugeres, http://www.tables-gourmandes.fr/auberge-de-combes.php Hands down the best meal I have ever had in the world (multiple times) and stay at the vacation rentals of Jane’s parents, http://www.peculierboy.com/temp/Faugeres_Brochure.pdf
Fantastic food, stunning wine, good friends, all in a small french town of less than 300 people. Wonderful!
The second choice would be more traditional…meaning everyone in a home and we cook. The place would be Staithes, Yorkshire, and Greystones, http://www.greystones-staithes.co.uk/ the house we rented with Don and Mindy in ‘05. There are enough bedrooms in the house for all current and former members of DC, and that would make it special…best DC yet.
Dream fifth couple? Well, if you google it, this web page comes up fourth in rankings….but I would have to say it would be Jane and I. No, not because we are so special, and not because we are founding members, but because it would mean we would be a part of DC again.
